Pre-Adamic – Belphegor (Originally known as Chemos) was created as one of God’s first children; and created as a member of the order of principalities. Not much is known of her history during that time, only that she was overly friendly, and close to anyone and everyone; and that she was created with an inventive mind. The fall of Belphegor came when God announced the creation of mankind, but she may have left for a different reason; succumbing to the temptation of pleasures of the flesh may be the real reason she was tossed from her former estate.

Before she fell, God transformed her into a spirit of sloth.

Biblical Age - Belphegor switched often between working for Mephistopheles and Samael before finally choosing to work for the latter. The reasons she gave were shallow, often saying that she found Samael better in bed than Mephisto. It was also during this time that she spread herself as the god of the Moabites (Baal Peor and Chemosh) and as the Babylonian Goddess, Ishtar.

*Note: In their world, the demons are linked one in the same to several pagan gods and goddesses. The angels also share these links, though they deny it.*

As god of the Moabites she incited them into obscene acts, and convinced the Israelites to worship her as well. Unknown to the other demons, Belphegor was actually using her creative mind to destroy a large group of people. She knew that if the Israelites worshiped her they would be killed. Not soon after, hundreds of thousands of them were struck dead by a plague, causing the demon god(dess) to celebrate. It is presumed that she left the Moabites soon after this.

As Ishtar, the most infamous story is told as this: When Belphegor grew curious of the world around her she traveled the land, until after two weeks of wondering she was stricken with exhaustion, and collapsed in a garden. While completely out of it, she was discovered by a man who proceeded to rape her. When she came to, she instantly knew what had happened, and was pissed. On her quest to find the guy she wound up destroying thousands of people either through plague, storms, or turning water into blood. When she couldn’t find him, she went up to talk to God. God refused to show her the man, but gave permisision to the angel Gabriel to show Belphegor. Gabriel reluctantly did so. With that new information, Belphegor was on her way.

Once finding the man she revealed herself in her true form, and told him that for his actions he would be immortalized in song. She then impaled him on an obelisk, leaving him to suffer and die.

Ironically, when asked about the entire thing, she has, and will say, “He could have at least woken me up so I could enjoy it!”

Not much else is known about her during that time, but rumors persist that children were offered as burnt sacrifices to her. Another story also tells that Belphegor, under the orders of Samael went over the earth to study the marriage of human beings. So disgusted by the act, and what she saw, she returned to Hell soon after.

Modern Age - At some point starting in the mid 80s, Belphegor was worshiped as an avenging angel of sexual crimes, and became known as ‘Eddo Shru’ or ‘The Shrouded Angel’. She was often involked by those who had been sexually assaulted, and saught revenge against their attacker. Belphegor, depending on her mood would either outright kill the attacker, or strike him or her with diseases. In 2007, she received her assignment – Quinn Giore a twenty one year old transexual with the ability of kinetic empathy. (Ability to absorb emotion and convert it into kinetic energy) If ever there was a demon who did all to convince their assignment NOT to use their ability, it was Belphegor. She instead attempted to convince Quinn to forget about the evils done to ‘him’, and to go out into the world and be promiscuous.

Once again, her inventive mind at work, because when he listened to her, he was struck with an unnamed disease that eventually caused ‘him’ to overdose and die. Having won that battle, Belphegor resumed to roaming around the earth, until she fell asleep; and woke up in Niflheim.

Seemingly harmless (perhaps too much so) at first glance, Belphegor is known to be very unstable when it comes to her emotions. One moment she can be happy and content, but if someone does her wrong; she goes into a violent rage that harms more people than just the perpetraitor. She enjoys the pleasures of the flesh a great deal, and actually left Heaven for that very reason. Her love of pleasure may also be why she chose to work for Samael over Mephisto. The latter demon being a tad too negative, dark, and depressing for Belle.

She is considered the satan of sloth, and for a very good cause; she beguiles people into not using their full potenital by offering them ideas for ingenious inventions. These inventions, if created to their full potential can make the inventer rich, but they can also make the inventer proud and lazy. On this same note, she is also said to have a hand in people discovering things. She will neither confirm, nor deny this though.

She is deceptively cunning, having a working knowledge of the laws of nature, and God’s laws. When she incites people to worship her it’s so that these people will be destroyed. One of her greatest strengths is using a person’s (or a group of people’s) weakness against them. This is the main reason why she is called the demon of dischord (one of many).

Belphegor has a knack for exploration and a curiosity for the world around her. She’s known to wander around, explore, and learn everything she can about the human race. Unfortunately , she’s also plagued by a curse that causes her to suddenly drop as though dead at any ungiven time. It is perhaps for this reason why she has become apt at sleeping in the oddest places. Also, for all of her want of knowledge about humanity there are certain things she can’t understand. She doesn’t know why the Dictionaire Infernail portrays her as a portly bearded demon, sitting on a toilet; nor does she understand why people offer shit to her. (She finds that form of sacrifice disgusting.)

Finally, there are strong implications that she has a thing against rapists. She became Eddo Shru (The Shrouded Angel) as a chance to offer sexual assault victims revenge against their attackers. To this day, nobody knows why Belphegor, a merciless demon, would feel for any group of humanity. However, one angel, Tzadkiel, has pointed out that this is probably an excuse for her to destroy even more people.

Dislikes: People who sacrifice shit to her, the Dictionaire Infernail, voyeuristic perverts, people like L, and being taken advantage of.
